About me.
Emma Byrne | Art Therapist & Integrative Counsellor
Hi, I’m Emma Byrne, a compassionate and experienced Art Therapist and Integrative Counsellor. With over a decade of experience working closely with individuals and families in disability-focused settings, I’ve helped people navigate challenges, build resilience, and foster emotional well-being. My therapy journey started long before my formal qualifications, with several years spent in teaching and support roles at a disability service, where I helped young adults with visual impairments and additional disabilities. These experiences shaped my understanding of human resilience and deepened my ability to connect with individuals facing various challenges.
As a qualified therapist with over two years of professional experience, I now bring these insights into my practice, creating a safe, inclusive, and creative space for personal growth and healing.
My Approach to Therapy
My therapeutic approach blends art therapy with talk therapy, providing a personalised experience that meets each client’s unique needs. Healing is a collaborative process, and my goal is to empower clients to navigate life’s challenges with greater clarity and confidence.
Whether you are dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, or the complexities of raising a child with disabilities, I offer a supportive and non-judgmental environment to help you explore and overcome these experiences.
I believe in giving you the freedom to choose what works best for you—whether you prefer art therapy, talk therapy, or a combination of both. Your comfort and choice are always my priority.
My Professional Experience
Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working in a range of therapeutic and support settings that have shaped my approach to therapy:
I developed and ran a free counselling service for parents of children with complex needs, including visual impairments and additional disabilities. This included one-to-one support and a weekly peer group, offering space for emotional support, resilience-building, and connection in a community setting.
I have worked within an inclusive therapy centre where I began as a trainee and now continue as a professional therapist in private practice. My work there has included long-term therapy with a diverse range of clients navigating challenges such as depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, identity, and loneliness.
I also work with a low-cost counselling service, offering accessible support to individuals from all walks of life. Here, I bring my integrative and creative therapeutic style to help clients explore their experiences, build awareness, and support meaningful change.
